The Friends arrange several events during the year consisting of work parties together with social and fund raising events.

Forthcoming Events

Annual General Meeting – An AGM in late April each year, in the Music Room of Headington Hill Hall. – Courtesy of Brookes University.

Tree Planting – The Friends plan to participate in “National Tree Week” each year. This is in the last week of November or the first week of December.

Work Parties – The Friends help with the maintenance of the trees in the park by cutting back ivy, clearing undergrowth and felling saplings.
Work parties dates will be announced to members by email – Meet at the car park.

Past Events

Tree walk – “Sorting the wood from the trees” 7th November, 2015 led by Ian Gourlay, introduced members to the stock of special trees in the Park (on a very rainy day), followed by soup and rolls at the Chairman’s home in London Place.

Tree planting – Saturday 2nd December 2017 – As participation in National Tree Week the friends provided a Chilian Pine (Monkey Puzzle Tree), which was formally planted by The Lord Mayor of Oxford – Councillor Jean Fooks

Saturday 24th November 2018 the friends provided a Giant Sequoia which was formally planted by local Oxford City Councillor Nigel Chapman.

Saturday 30th November 2019 the Friends provided a Japanese Red Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica ‘Elegans’) which was formally planted by the Lord Mayor of Oxford – Councillor Craig Simmons.

As part of National Tree Week 2020, a further tree planting is planned for Saturday 28th November 2020.

Tree Trail – The Friends launched the tree trail and information board, on October 27th 2018, The board was formally unveiled by the Chairman of Headington Action – Patrick Coulter.
